The mission of AWESOMENESS IS™

Our mission is to reduce the frequency of accidental food contamination and enact change in the food industry through awareness and education.

Awesomeness Is™ is a company started by two friends, David Ouellette and Kara Curley, and is about food allergy awareness. They both have food allergies and have been treated at the ER many times due to mistakes made and cross contamination in the food industry. They both have experience in the health field. David is a health agent in the local community and Kara is an LPN. Together they want to bring change and education to the consumer and the workers in the food industry.

Severe reactions and even death occur too many times every year. Most of the time this is due to human error or mistakes made because the allergy is not being taken seriously enough by the person themselves or by the food industry. Through education and awareness we hope to change this trend. There need to be uniform and easy consumer-friendly procedures in all food establishments.

We have already talked with restaurants and chain food establishments to bring change. We will be producing a universal standard operating procedure that could be used by the food industry.

There need to be uniform and easy consumer-friendly procedures in all food establishments.
